I just moved from OS9 to OSX cause I just got a new machine, and in the process, used Indesign, and the new version of Quark (6). My question is... is anyone still using quark? I had never used In Design at all, but after one hour, I never wanted to use quark again... even the new version (which doesn't really have anything new). What has been your experience? Anyone prefer Quark still? Why?

i have both but still use quark cause im a creature of habbit.
ive always used quark 4 but next week im getting Q6 and switching to osx. we'll see what happens. im not sure if my version of in design runs on X. the biggest issue is what my printers will accept. but im gonna give in design a shot again.

forgot to ask..
how is q6?

I like InDesign better. It's faster for me to work with.

quark 6 seems just like quark 4 to me. Nothing new really. If you know how to use Illustrator, you know how to use In Design. In one hour I was using it without problems. The only thing I sort of miss, was all the keyboard shorcuts I knew in Quark, but In Design behaves so much better that I wouldn't go back.

I never really used Quark until after I worked with InDesign and only because a client needed it. Not by choice. Not that it isn't bad to know. I just never needed it.
I now use InDesign very much. I like the transition from Illustrator to InDesign. It seems more natural to me. I mess with Freehand here and there and can't get into the shortcuts they it uses.
I have been lucky and able to turn in PDF's to printers. As long as you export correctly with all the needed traping, they should have no problems. It helps from having to collect all of the assets and do a pre-flight & package.
I Would consider learning more Quark, but not buying it unless we really need it here. I don't think that will happen so no worries here.
Not sure if that helped.... but cheers!

InDesign will let you select Quark keyboard shortcuts...

shit! really? I miss the ones for adjusting the kerning, leading and font size in a flash... I mean it's not slow doing it with the tools, but how do you do it??!
