so i got a project where this lady wants me to make a demo cd-rom to see if i know how to make a cd-rom. Wierd I know. Well I'm a bit skeptical b/c she said that she will provide content, parameters, etc etc...I'm worried that she'll run with the demo, and stiff me for the $
Well she just emailed me back saying that there is no job, that she was going to take the demo to a client and that if they liked the demo, then there would be a project. To me this sounds very very shady, and I'm thinking about letting this lady know that I am a professional and need to be paid for services rendered, and if she can't deal with that, then not to contact me.
Tired of these whack ass peeps.
What do y'all think?

shes a blagger, tell her you'll supply jpeg visuals of example pages for a fee and if they run with it then you'll begin construction under the agreed terms/costs.
silly moo's trying to be clever.

a plumber wouldnt go into a real estate agents house and fix the pipes with the idea that if it works out, there will be future paid work.
tell them to fuck off.

I think a request for one with her content would clearly be out of the question. I would either give her one that I had done in the past. or smear your name or EXAMPLE all over it, as to make it useless to her. I would avoid using their content as much as possible.
Though I do like the "get fucked" choice for people that seem shady.

just use temp art and if it uses flash, just set date expiration timers...

Those people are everywhere it seems. They want to turn your idea into their business model. They MIGHT get around to payig you.

i would try to build in a date check for local time on the computer and use it to limit the use of the disc
...or something like that
