fontbook interview questions:
biggest weakness: lack of speed
biggest asset: fonts that turn on stay on after logout or shutdown,
awesome for font previewingso...if you only work on one project at a time and don't have many fonts to work with at a single time, fontbook is usable. otherwise stick with suitcase, or use font reserve if you're into masochism.

yeah, suitcase doesn't have very good font previewing, fontbook's looks awesome. functionality speaking, suitcase has been a dream for me.

FontBook doesn't actually much at all, really.
It does completely f*ck up Univers Normal and Bold, however.
Suitcase doesn't currently work properly in Panther.
They're working on an update.

Working great for me. I have Panther and Suitcase X1. The only problem I had was one of the fonts my company uses, Crillee or Akzidenz Grotesk was f*cking up my Safari and iChat. Safari wouldnt load any web pages and iChat all I could see was the other persons IMs. Turned them off and all is fine now.

a friend of mine here in Antwerp had installed Panther on his iBook G3 (the white one) and it was all good at first, fast and all that..
but then..out of the blue... simple apps like Stuffit, Quicktime etc. just started crashing like kamikaze pilots..
Later on his whole Finder kept relaunching in cycles of less then a second.. it was completely weird and you could only force quit it by hardware measures (=the button)..
After 3 forced reboots the Finder was back to normal.
I have heard many many other bugs about Panther and especially Fontbook.
Don't get me wrong, Panther is supafast and efficient, but it seems it has only been made for G5's.. :(
(he posted about his issues on YayHooray btw..)
I stick with Jag for a while I think..

apple should be ashamed of Fontbook.
It is the worst piece of shit the've ever put out.
did i mention i hate fontbook

Panther works fine for me on all three of my computers- no problems. Font book isnt for pro users- its a basic app with basic functions for basic users. If you try to use it for more than that- yeah it sucks.
Suitcase blows as well. I dont care who makes the app as long as someone comes out with a better solution to this crap.
