    what is the effective pixel-width i can use in an IE (5/6) browser on a 17 inch monitor?

    [for a 15 inch i use 740 pixels]

    i think the average resolution for a 17 inch would be 1024X768, so about 1000 to include browser furniture.

    just finished a revenue system UI for a 17inch screen, and we aimed (with client input) for 1024x768 using 995x600 as the effective workspace....seems to be a little loose on some platforms/browsers but generally works fine...
