Anyone else tired of doing people 'favors' on their web or print projects, e.g., relatives and friends you don't want to get into a biz deal with, so you do it for FREE, and find it just eats into you PAID work load?

I agree - there should be some kind of really nice bartering system - ie sure I'll score your film if you'll let me print 40 of these ultra detailed and colourful mechs on your kickass a3 printer...
But yea - there's gotta be some tactic to doing this without being a tosser of a friend..

You are totally right! I stopped doing that. The only ones who can get anything for free are my parents and they don't ask for it. Everybody else, well I'm sorry, they can get a discounted rate but they still need to pay. I'm charging my every second of work now. Nobody is doing me any favors, I pay for everything! The bottom line is that this is a business and a skill, they don't go to Fry's and ask for free stuff.

Boz - are you doing freelance or is it an established business thing>?
Just that I'd find it easier to say that if I was part of some more 'structured' business arrangement.
There's gotta be a nice way to say - if you haven't organised yourself and allowed me to get it done by october then you'll be getting nothing and your project will fail.
