How can I take off margins on the canvas so it bleeds to the edge on 8.5x11.
thanks

anyone? For some reason it's giving me a pre-defined margin on my canvas that im wokring on. I want no margin what so ever.

It depends on the Page Setup, but if that's not an issue go to View > Hide Page Tiling.
- ILuvSushi0
should that allow it to bleed to the edge of 8.5x11?
thanks btw.

When you print it? That really depends on the size of paper you're printing onto.
- ILuvSushi0
i'm printing onto 8.5x11 it's for a slick.

you have to set bleeds. illustrator won't do it for you.
make the document 8.125" x 11.125" for a .125" bleed, or 8.75" x 11.25" for a .25" bleed.

and daw in your crop marks

You can't just make your color bleed off of an 8.5x11 document. You have to print it on a larger paper (11x17, for example) and cut it down. Make sure to include crop marks.

yeah. that's it, you should be fine now man. Are you printing and cutting this or are you sending it out?
- ILuvSushi0
Probably going to print and cut myself for now.
Not sure what I will do later.
- ILuvSushi0
Actually going to turn it into a PDF and then print it but damn PDF color compression :(
Vibrant bold colors become shit.
- swollenelbow0
exprot it out of illustrator man. don't ruin a perfectly good eps, by pdfing it for printing purposes? are you using pms colors?
- unknown0
"damn PDF color compression"??? Acrobat shouldnt be doing anything to the colors - check your proof setup instead
- ILuvSushi0
No I'm not using PMS Colors right now not really going to mass print on this just running a few on a printer.
- ILuvSushi0
Using CMYK
- ILuvSushi0
would using the illustrator script to savedocasPDF distort the colors? or I'm i doing something wrong?
BTW, I appreciate all of your help!

I agree w/ Swollen - PDF's from AI are crap, but not really because of the way it handles color. Unless you can distill the files you should stick to EPS
