Y'all ever designed for something other than money? Like products or services? Just wondering what experiences good or bad you've had.

I did the design work for an ISP that hosted my site, got a couple years of hosting free, and some referrals. Its not all bad, all the time.

I do all of the design work for a fresh barber shop across the street from my house. Works out when my girl needs to get her hair done. Saves us a few hundred each time.
Design for trade sucks though. They expect the same treatment as a regular paying client. Because their craft to them is just as important as yours is to you. Even though you might charge more for what you are doing in return for their service.
I only do it for these kats across the street and 1 other friend. After that, you gotta pay.

yeah, permutations are always welcome
I'll be designing the identity of a plumber in exchange of his services, also doing a cheap identity stationery and a simple homepage for my future representant.

yup, i designed sometimes for just a free service like i did on a tatoo shop, he let me have a free tatoo for a free web design, sounds fair for a 3 page webbbyy.....

Besides my daytime job, everything else I do I try to do as a trade - but you know sometimes thereĀ“s a limit to how many falaffels you can eat, or how many movies you actually wanna see. Either way, monet sucks, doing people a favour means getting favours in return when you really need them.

Hrmm... the conclusion of this thread could be the suggestion of adding a 'trade board' (TB-AN?) where Kodap can trade his plumbing services for tattoos from Ame3yst
Anyone interested in 20 falaffel sandwiches? Make me a good deal and I'll pay for airmail ;-)
- ame3yst0
hehehe.... TB-AN That would be good--->jkob

did work for an internet gaming cafe. got to play quake, wolfenstein, tribes, etc etc in the tournaments for free.
i designed their logo, banner, puter wallpaper and some newspaper ads. worked out great for me.
so . . . i'm up for some falaffels. i can get you into RedFusion Lan Cafe for free and let you play all the tournaments you want. heheh.

Don't know if you could call it a trade really. But I'm working on my girlfriends little brother bands website right now.
Guess they will give me their debut cd in return.
But it's always nice to do music related stuff.
