I am thinking about buying some CD decks that will work out the BPM and basically make me look good - more importantly, impress the women and help me break my 3 month draught...
Anyways, seeing as I have nearly filled my 30g ipod I was wondering if there is dj software that would help me achieve the same thing - or do I have to shell out £750?? (For the decks that is... not the lady of the night!!)

there is this one cool thing (i forget the name) where you get these 'dummy' records which are timestamped / linked to your mp3's, you basically play your mp3's straight from your laptop and you can change the pitch/scratch as you would on decks (vinyl decks not cd).

That's called final scratch.

Karlo, maybe you could try your luck here, all you need is your ipod:

acid from sonic foundry is good. but i think most of the dj's use pro tools to do their mix cds

there are so many different things you can do with audio and mixing. you would have to be more specific. there are development tools, mixing tools, sequencing only tool, etc. etc. etc.

unless you are JUST looking for Beat Matching Software such as: http://www.myxoft.com/

must have missed it.
that's the craziest looking contraption i ever saw. I don't see it happening for a while though.
There are way too many djs that are way too into their vinyl.
