i can't believe the way all of the media are slagging off the BBC. They are being threatened by the GOV. with the removal of the license system!!! which would then make them a commercial station and bring the quality down across the board.
The BBC invented brittish radio and TV and they have political and social roots that go all the way to the bottom. Just because they said something the government didn't like do they deserve all of this hostility?
The government don't go and tell Murdoch off for all of the shit he's responsible for spreding around the world....

I'm up for the removal of the license system. Why should we pay for shitty programmes, especailly when most of them are repeats from the 70's an 80s!!!!!
- geeque0
i would like to be able to make a choice at least.
- dstlb0
What repeats? You must be thinking of Bravo. I'd prefer to pay the licence fee and not have to put up with adverts every 15mins and shite tv as seen on ITV, C4 (sometimes) and C5.
- dstlb0
Although, thinking about it there's a lot of shit on BBC as well and not having the choice of paying is a bit fucked up.

The BBC rules.
They are the best of the best. Worldwide.
No news agency has, or ever will come close to achieving their standards and unbiased level of reporting.
But all that "report the truth" can get you in trouble with your government sometimes.
CNN or others would never have "been allowed" to do that.
That's the point.Long live the BBC.

i had to say about BBC as when i were in the uk in summer working i watched it and thought as apposed too german tv you have a selction of programming to be envied of.
i dont no what you are talkng on social roots going down to the bottom is that to do with all class system in uk?
i and a lot of family memebrs can say many good things in BBC as we had seen many many BBC program when we wer growing up like agatha chritie program, mant fine nature films lovejoy and charles dickens programs like martin chuzelhwhitt
- geeque0
what about all the bbc's adverts? advertising all their own crap and all those little pre programme slots, like the balloon n stuff?
- stimuli0
Remove the licence system and all the government will do is introduce a "general licence" for the privilege of watching TV. And it'll cost twice as much. It'll be tested in Scotland first then introduced in the rest of the UK when they find out it doesn't work.
- v3nt0
i would pay twice as much for the license if it meant when i watch an hour programme i want to watch i didn't have to watch embarrassing irrelevant adverts for 20 mins of it.
And hat do you mean shitty programmes. Do you expect every programme they show to be made to entertain you? Ever heard of a tv guide where you choose what you want to watch and find out when its on?

BBC Scotland and it's f**king dancing arseholes. I don't want to see any tosser dancing between programmes. Multi-cultural my arse.

The BBC are an institution - they should not be fucked with in any way.

the bbc provide the best interactive service, the best news service, the best word service, the most innovative programming, that there is. And none of it is done for commercial gain like everyother channel.
If they did go commercial they'd fuck over everyone anyway.
+ match of the day is back with them next year

Im not a fan of the conservative....ass licking monarchy lovers...the BBC is terrible, but, I do agree that their news coverage is very good!!

Having a system where, while all your money is delivered to one body, you are still required to pay to watch content from anyone else : BAD
Having a private interest-free media body : PRICELESS.
Maybe some kind of BBC subscription/license instead of a general license. Maybe that'd be unenforceable. Killing the license fee'd kill hundreds of jobs, too.
- v3nt0
possubly a subscription would solve few issues, but would it be enought o cover the licence removal? they have a good range of digital stations too. What i mean by roots to the bottom is cos they where run by the government when they first came out they where involved in all the early war elections coverage. They've just been here a hell of a long time...

that biasa website is from the Times, which is owned by MUrdoch?! ironic or coincidence. Murdoch hates the BBc and what they stand for.
- unknown0
whats the altenative?
cnn, fox, sky. Fuck that.
ironic that the only body questioning the government is a media organisation. If the conservatives and Lib Dems did their fucking job the BBC wouldnt have to step in.
Its not ideal that the BBC has to question the government, it comprimises their position as an unbias organisation, but if they dont who will.
The Irony is that Dyke the controller of the BBC, was one of the biggest contributors to New Labour during the 90's.
Fair play I say. Long live the British Media, the worse thing in the world would be the media run by two or three media moguls.

this guys potential scares me

Murdoch is pure evil.
