TR: thanks for the tips. I'm redoing the text in html. I'm not 100% sure if i want to change the red area. BUT i'll give it a whirl and see what I can come up with. The mailer sites, I'll next them....I was afraid of not having enough web work.
and thats what the job is for...but judging from the companys site and their work, mine is way above theirs already.
thanks for the help.

your welcome D.. good luck!

My Two Cents:
Take your contact and education info and move it to the bottom. Take your portfolio section and bump it up just under the big red section. Load the portfolio stuff in the big red area. Right now that red area is serving no usefullness.
I also agree that A. You should use sharper type and B. you should ace those mailer websites.

thanks dude. I'm changing the format of the layout a bit.....add the work to the page. so it will be longer but no pop ups.
I'll get cracking on the html text for the rest of it. it was something I need to get done fast for this company to interview me. Judging from the companys work that site that I have up now is WAY better than anything they have including their company site.

yah, the bezier tool is tricky to learn at first but you will get used to it. i was just saying to make your content (majority of text) in html, like tahoma or verdana at 9 pixels and then just use a simple clean font for your header graphics. im glad the logo will be bigger im sure its nice, we just cant really see it yet.

You weren't concerned with the html?
What about with the seemingly random way in which the graphics were chopped up and then exported out of Imageready/fireworks?
And make that text actual html text while you're at it.
If ya want a job as a web designer, you better care about html.

Typo on Madaam Butterfly :)

thanks dude....I wasn't concerned with the html on the site, I just wanted something nice, clean and done fast...I'll rework the text.....
Knoxel, you're saying do the text in html? or as a graphic?
the logo will be bigger....its a nice one, but I'm still learning how to make smooth curves and stuff with illustrator....i can never ge the curves just right

for the content text i think a clean html font like tahoma at 9 pixels would look nice. with some heltetica header graphics...
make the logo bigger so we can feel the fire!

blofedt: need to do something about the text...any ideas? pixel fonts?
I did the top graphics and the bgs....they do what they will with the sites.....the ultimatemarketingminsites is my new online business....I did the whole thing.
all the logos on the page? any ideas how to lay it out?
tomcat: isnt MM's site with blue?
Oeuf: squished? its helvy neu extended....hows it squished?
- oeuf0
nice, but your type looks squished in the red rectangle.
- tomkat0
like it .. agree to the previous speakers ..
typo on the red reminds me a little of macromedia though .. maybe its just me ..

Nice site, i agree about the text being too small and blurry. Erm.. your web portfolio is a little odd, i guess you did the top graphics and someone else did the content, because the content is horrible. I'd consider showing your print work nicely, and i'm not a fan of the pop ups, i think you should show all your logos together.
But your portfolio site does look cool.

sherman: uploaded the updates...its still not done....
Knoxel: i'll work on something perhaps with pixel fonts...i changed the bg to a lighter version....the logo? yes a flame of sorts.
Qburt: the sites? well thats my work, I have to show the stuff, although I should rearrange it....for the mailer I just did the graphics based on what the client wants....
you dont like the dreamweaver header? oh man you're killin me...LOL
thanks again
- dconstrukt0
thanks guys.
great tips...I just fixed the pop ups but the ftp setup isnt working at the moment...i'm trying to upload the updates.

I know your site isnt done yet... but here are my thoughts.
1. Good site... decent layout...
great design and yet simple enought to let the work shine.2. some of your websites are not shining..... i would consider getting rid of a few of the sites you list... a few of them are pretty aweful.....
The mailer sites are pretty bad
also i would move one of yoru better pieces up to your first link... then have a few ok ones.. then a good one in the middle and then end with a good one.
you have 3 or 4 that are decent and a few that are.. blah.. the first 2 are blah.. move them to the lower middle

sorry i should have read the post. your site isnt done yet.
my fault.
- BXCAR0
yeah go on
like it

some of your logo design popups arent coming up.
i like the colors of the site. you should do some random images with your red main image.
- knoxel0
i like the layout and color choice, but i think if your going to use small text it should be sharper. the logo i think is too small as well.. cant really tell what is cut out of the circle.. is that like a flame or something?
also think the angled screen background is too strong in contrast, lighten it up a bit.
