oh shit - is that dvd worth getting? I saw a few reviews that dogged on the quality of the filming but i cannot believe it's anything short of spectacular?

It's the same break. I've talked about the place with Kelly Slater, seen tons of tape on it and spent over a year working on a surf title. Regardless of what you think you see there Teahupoo is real and all those pics, even the first in this thread are the same break.
I thought to be a surfer you had to know about all the fatty breaks ;)

People regularly ride 30+ ft waves. Hawaii, California, Costa Rica. Hell, Mavericks has large surf all the time. Even if that photo looks surreal, it only looks about 30 ft high. Ive seen video of riders on a 50+ footer in Wiamea Bay.
