Normally, I would not be able to answer that one since I have loved his music for most of my life. However, Dylan has a way of making such a personal connection with his fans that I do have a favorite: Visions of Johanna from Blond on Blond. The surreal imagery is as good as ever and the slow mercurial delivery is so mesmerizing.
I would have to pick Highway 61 Revisited as my favorite of his albums, followed by Brining It All Back Home, Blond on Blond, Basement Tapes, John Wesley Harding, Love and Theft, Time Out of Mind and Blood on the Tracks.

i've been listening to dylan since i was a fetus.. i'd have to say knocking on heaven's door is about as good as it gets, though the whole bootleg series has some stuff on it that blows me away.. nobody can touch dylan.. nobody.. my vote for best musician of the century..

other than the Beatles, I agree. Then comes Miles. More of a songwriter than musician though.

Not a true 'connaisseur' but I love this record (a mythic bootleg until recently), where after a beautiful first acoustic set he returns to play (oh the horror!) with an electric guitar, leaving behind folk influence. Pure unadultered rock. And as he said, while turning to the organ player: "Play it fuckin' loud!"

wow that's a nice one

Forever Young.......for very sentimental reasons. Dylan's media consultant was a good friend of mine and sat me down one night and made me listen to that song. He said the lyrics were his wishes for me. That song can still make me cry. So sweet. But nobody can do it like Bob...Rob Stewart's version is too stylized compared to dylan's sincerity.
