After last weeks virus attack, I had to reinstall WinXP. Everything worked fine, and I got a confirmation that XP was installed, and the computer rebooted.
Instead of XP, I got the installation screen, on the last step, saying there's 37 minutes left of the installation, and a critical error (Phase 0) whatever the hell that means.
Do any of you know how to bypass the "run once" thing in whatever .ini file it's hidden in? I KNOW the system is installed, I just don't know how to get out of the installation program.
I will kill Bill Gates and his minions if this is fucking up much more of my valuable time.

Apple bashers take notice. Sorry mang I get a lot of mystery errors with windows as well.

are you installing over a previous installation or a formatted drive? Either way, it's problably betterto try again, I think...

How am I supposed to try again when whatever I do I get the installation program and an error? Even when I insert an ms-dos startup disk I get the installation program and the critical error. I have no idea how to get out of that thing.

I installed my WinXP Pro almost a year ago, but I thought one had the possibility either to continue with an incomplete installation or start one from scratch...

Yeah, but once you have started the fucking installation, there's no way in hell to get out of the fucking piece of shit installation if there's an error of any sort.' Fuck the crap ass shit whore motherfucker! I'm installing Linux!

Ok, so I lied. I need XP. I'm fucking desperate. I've searched through the MS site to try to find some info, but nothing there.

"Critical error:
An internal data structure for the installation is damaged (phase 0)"Translated from norwegian, may say something totally different in the english version. Well, anyone know what the hell this means, and what to do with it?
- flatulence0
do you happen to remember what the error message said?
i may have had a similar problem.
- flatulence0
whoops...just read your last post.
- unfittoprint0
man, could it be that your installation files are corrupt (meaning the CD)?
- flatulence0
hmm...can you do a repair installation? or does it freeze in the middle of that too?
- schjetne0
I can't do shit. Whatever I try to do, it just starts up the installation program, on the last step (even though it's already finished).

it could be three things.
1. your HD is fucked. the sector block could be corrupted.
2. your XP disc (if its a copy), is fucked. get a different disc or buy a new XP disc or if its real, ask MS to send you another.
3. your BIOS COMS is fucked. the recent virus sometimes attacks the BIOS setting. you may want to reset your BIOS.it took me 8 tries to get my computer running. formated 19 times with w2k and xp. but its still fucked. i need to buy a new computer / HD. Keep trying to install your XP again. once you do, check your boot.ini file to see if the boot record has one OS. if it says 2 or more, delete the line with the second OS and reformat and reinstall.

boot from the cd. go into bios and change the settings so it boots from the winXP disc. take a second to load, but once it does, choose to either 1. fix the preivous install or 2. install a fresh new install into a new folder directory. i would advise calling it "W" or something. deosn't really matter what you call it.
settle down arlo. mac's crash. fuck the holier than thou crap. can't run outlook for 2sec's before osx locks up and my coworker had to return 3 - count 'em THREE ti books cause they would not boot. pump your brakes playa. they are computers. shit happens. there are plenty of users that have made the switch: apple BACK to pc. something about speed...

"Keep trying to install your XP again"
How? Whatever I do, it starts at the last step. I have tried changing my bios settings so the computer is supposed to boot from cd, but it fucking won't work. It still starts the install shit.
I'm stuck, and I have no idea how to get out of this mess. My clients'll be hella cranky now.
- MrDinky0
yourdisc is fucked than. i had that problem. it wont boot form CD.
get a different disc and see if it works.
- flatulence0
can you get to a command prompt? if so, run the chkdsk and chkntfs. that may give you more info about what is wrong.

New error:
"NTLDR is missing"
No install screen now.
- schjetne0
