have anyone here the impression that everything has been already made? that at last there is and there wont be anything new under the sun? that there are no new languages to discover?
we can see it everyday. the new trends are dealing just with past recycled ideas.
thats my point. thats the point that keeps me clogged. sometimes (most of the times) i feel unable to escape from external influences.
sometimes i hate my job. and sometimes i hate the stuff i make at home.
argh. argh.
good morning, dudes

i see your point, but i think if you get stuck in that rut you should make an effort to get out of it, or switch jobs. (not said in a mean way)
try to find a new way to enjoy life, open your mind, and invent something new im sure its out there.

... ego's are painful.

sometimes is not just a question fun. if only is fun theres no fun! and of course ego has nothing to do with that, is a question of improving.

so make something up.
... completely uninflunced.

Nobody is original.
The one who can mix the best combinations wins. That goes for everything

am excited about the future
over the next 10-20 years we are going to see some neato original stuff pop aorund due to dv, broadand, cgi etc etc.
get rid of those negative thoughts and feelings.

abizzyman, you are the man of the easy solutions. with ya everything is done! keep it up, boy!
SportyThief, maybe i am stupid but mixing styles or ideas that others have already created makes me unhappy. is that a dead end? for sure....
and right now nobody is original. for sure. but once upon a time they (the original ones) existed: bauhaus, saul bass, ...

teacher once said to me: 'it's all just a remix' and i answered 'a good remix is something of it's own' or is king britt wrong?
- quamb0
"and right now nobody is original. for sure. but once upon a time they (the original ones) existed: bauhaus, saul bass, ... "
too bad you see it all like that. so black and white.
your juices have stopped flowing. or at least the dreamer.

I expect (but don't quote me on it) that Saul Bass had plenty of influences.
I find that using interacctivity helps you set yourself apart from others... when I was foing just graphics at college I found it really stifling, as by it's nature you're very open to current trends.

'a good remix is something of it's own' or is king britt wrong?
thats a good gooooood answer!
a teacher told me:
if you look one/two books to make a project you are copying. if you look more than two you are getting inspiration.sometimes teachers should be put in jail.
mmmhhh. i dont think i see things in black and white (ok, maybe sometimes). but just a question:
have anyone of you guys seen a thing without any reference? the opposite of: yes, thats nice, that element reminds me blabla, that element reminds me bloblo....
and (please) dont jdge my site (underconstruction) is pure pure bullshit. and too similar to some stuff on the net.
- jg_20
you found your way engagestudio. thats what im trying to find right now. .............
and saul bass could have a lot of influences (like kandinsky or moholy nagy, etc....) but he made something revolutionary out of that.

take a starting point, or think of a single idea (preferably your own), and realise it (work that idea up, and then bring it back again to it's simplest form)
Most succesful designs are when you present them to people, and it doesn't look like a lot of work because of how simple it is... but you've often got to go through the shit to get to it.
Thats why eople have aproblem with 2A etc. it's coz they don't seem to throw anything out, if they've thought of it or can use it they will.
When people start having trouble that they're being influenced by everything, it's usually because they are trying to borrow from too many sources.
- jg_20
nice that you pointed that engaestudio. i know that. but comes a point when you are finished with the stuff, you can see that nice 2A, but you realize that is nothing really special. yes is your idea, is your stuff, but nothing special.
i make myself a lot of questions while working. have i seen that before? is this really worth to keep on work?....
then everything is fucked.

"have anyone of you guys seen a thing without any reference? the opposite of: yes, thats nice, that element reminds me blabla, that element reminds me bloblo.... "
true, though if you do that, you could look at say a billboard, notice its influences, look at those, find its inspiration, look at them, and so forth, till you are now at the dawn of man as some apeman draws a stick figure on the dirt.
the world will never cease to evolve and create new, original and exciting things/ideas.

... in other words 'you can think to much'... once you've got confidence in what you do you'll be okay.
- jg_20
lets see. maybe bad times. maybe too many joints. or bad sex! who knows!
