What a mess! I can't double click to open an image in Illustrator. I can't get the image box to be transparent and forget about pdfs. Anyone up to speed with this? The application "help" does not live up to its name.

Quark better get their act together....alot of people are getting frustrated with alot of those little annoying qwercks..

yes what a great app from Quark 6 Passport.
And now for something even more fuck-up Quark 6 update's in ten years time.
hahahahaaaaaaaa
- doggy0
wayne pixel..absolutely love the flash anim's on every page of your site!

Did you do that in quark?
hehe...
Whats the emplyment status in the UK at present for our industry? My girl has citizenship, and we were thinking about going over.
- BonSeff0
what does Q6 do that Q4 does not, in a general prepress way?
i still have seen no point in upgrading since like '99
- doggy0
No point in upgrading. Its the same..Just niceuse of tables, and layering... ?
I guess they just had to get some more money rolling in or something... but if "happen" to find yourself with a copy, there is no harm in installing it. Especially if you have OSX. Then OS9 will not have to load up to run it..Thats the "only" reason i installed the new version.
- CyBrainX0
and OS X is the only reason I upgraded too. I don't do too much print anyway, but this is ridiculous. I hope you all know how much better InDesign is, except for the color issue with printers. As soon as InDesign gets that sorted out, you're going to see a reversal like IE and Netscape years ago.
And I will be one of the first pissing down the severed neck stump of Quark's lifeless, twitching corpse. YAY!!!!
- BonSeff0
what color issue with printers?
- CyBrainX0
You know, I don't even see anything in the menus about subscribe to... and publisher. I don't even see any menu item greyed out. There isn't even anything about this in the application help. I guess that's not a feature anymore. They TOOK A FEATURE AWAY!! This is a downgrade for a lot of money.
- CyBrainX0
the color issues I mentioned about InDesign are about accepted standards used by Quark that make prepress people hate inDesign files. Some places won't even take inDesign files. Some will warn you. They are getting better at handling it, but Adobe has to work on the situation too.

Just try to find a printer that will except a Quark6 file for print,....hmmm
- gravityroom0
I wish the print industry were as up on technology as the web industry.
Drives me nuts.
- CyBrainX0
I didn't think of that.
You can save as Quark 5 though. That seems like it could be a pain in the ass.
I hate print.
- BonSeff0
print is real
- gravityroom0
...real hard to deal with
- BonSeff0
not if you deal with ODEE or Ussery. have you dealt with them gravity? ussery is a no nonsense badass co.
- pagedown0
print rocks!

BonSeff -
I've been going over to Ussery since I was a kid... My dad was buddies with one of the owners and they worked together on a ton of projects. They are the best ever. I've done a few projects through them. Its always a joy.
They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. I had a terrible experience with Padgett once...
Ever worked with Williamson? I've heard good things.
- BonSeff0
weve done a job with padgett. dealt with the owners son. he was kinda weird. never done anything with williamson, they always price themselves out when i get them to bid.
ever printeed on that 1902 60" press here in town? man, that job was a nightmare..but we are pretty happy we found ussery. we deal with Don Ray. he's a pretty cool blue hair.
- gravityroom0
Williamson are high... but they are really good.
Never worked on the 1902! Sounds kind of fun though. Don's a cool dude. So is Milton Ashner.
Yeah - Padgett are flakey. They kind of acted like they didn't give a shit and the print job reflected that as well.
Bonseff - do you do DSVC?
- BonSeff0
nope, ive bumped around the website but i havent been to any events. are you a member? how is it?
