there should be an option when saving 'preserve illustrator editing capabilites'

for some reason it wasnt working.
we checked that box, opened it in acrobat 6.0 and you could highlight the text and you cant edit it.
help.

you've got to add the editable fields within the PDF file. Don't enter your editable text in Illustrator, as you'll have to delete if from your PDF.

maybe i'm dumb.....either that or stoned today....lol but
explain that again for me.
you said NOT to enter the text in illustrator. so i create a BLANK text area in illustrator and then save as pdf?
thanks dude

You have to create the editable fields within the actual Acrobat authoring environment. After you've saved it as a PDF open it in Acrobat (not the reader) and create the text fields that way. Hope this helps!

right, what gabriel said - once you've got your PDF open, use the Form Tool (next to the outlined 'T') and draw a box. Then a properties window will appear.

Gabriel: THANK YOU.
my partner thought you could just design the fax cover sheet in ILLUSTRATOR, then export as a PDF...and itshould work.
so we need the FULLversion of acrobat to actually do this.
PERFECT.
Thank you.
