have a look:

http://avionics.flashlevel.com/now i'm not a huge fan of the sites generally, in terms of design. but the rollovers are totally awesome. my guess is that they're using some after effects or something to generate these things, and bringing an image sequence into flash. BUT.... I want to hear an explanation from the source. anybody know exactly what's going on here?
rock on!

nobody has a clue?
there has to be some other NT people out there who are curious about this...
i'm feeling lonely :(
- shellie0
after effects or some crazy photoshop... and a squence of images placed in a move. on rollover go to and play movie.
yup.
- shellie0
you just explained it to yourself perfectly.. thats why nobody replied.. probably.
- unfittoprint0
After Effects. import the sequence to a movie or button...
- mitsu0
shhh, people are still sleeping...
ZZZZzzzzzzzz....
-.-
- majman0
yes, as i suspected...
so i understand that it's a sequence of images, but how do you do that in photoshop or AE...
details details details...
by the way shellie, we've met before via video conferance... i think
- shellie0
we did? on albin's computer?? Was that you testing out that ichat thing?
uh oh people are watching me. I gotta go get ready to work now or you'll tell ;)
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
*kidding* ... kinda...
- majman0
no, back at sony, i'm on the east coast. i think you were w/ jeff and a couple other people for one of our last video things...
maybe not. i could be wrong
- unfittoprint0
Ae is like photoshop with a timeline. Imagine doing an effect to a text (or other) like increasing gaussian Blur in a sequeence of images, and then saving the result...
Do a search and you'll find a lot of good tutorials and resources to AE here in PV-AN.
- shellie0
oh......... oh oh oh.... ok. yes that video conference. yeah.. are you still working there now? or are you a free agent. that layoff was gnarly.. of course my ass was the first to go.
but i got a better waaaay cooler job imediately .. i wasnt even off payroll yet. take that andrew lack!
- majman0
thanks unfittoprint.
you da man/woman!
- majman0
yeah, fortunately i didn't get axed. but things over here are kinda sucky these days. CMS and fun stuff like that. Andy doesn't know what he's doing!
but i'm just glad i still have a job!
- shellie0
i still talk to joe over on the WC.. and he complains about that new CMS like no other. I feel bad for him. Why dont you take off? your portfolio is impressive. you could probably go anywhere no problem.
- driftlab0
He is using Combustion.
And that is a fact.
- driftlab0
Which produces effects much like Adobe After Effects.
- driftlab0
and here is your link...

i dunno, nyc is pretty tough amongst us web geeks. not a lot of openings in general, and the ones that are around seem to not pay so well. i'm gonna stick it out here for awhile, perhaps things will improve. then i'm probably going to head out of nyc all together.
perhaps check out the west coast :)
- majman0
wow, combustion huh? something i've never really looked at.
same idea though? exporting image sequences? any tuts on combustion around?
thanks for the link!
- shellie0

- unfittoprint0
