What are the average hourly 3d (modeling, texturing, animating, the whole deal) rates for realistic 3d for the web for a semi high profile project. this way a flat rate can be calculated.
I'm curious.. anyone? i couldnt find the information anywhere else.

like everything else it depends of the designer, the quality of their work, and most especially the complexity of the work.
How accurate the model (will it require CAD usage?), the number of things to be modelled separetely, animation and post-production (AE, combustion, etc.) are some of the things to take into account before naming your price...

3d studio max very high poly/res... for entertainment type stuff. fun online toys and such.
i'm talking of a professional 3d artist that is usually a lead character and envirmonment artist on games and cut scenes. He's an exceptional teture artist and the animation he'll be required to do will be simple compared to the stuff he usually does. this is only one project he'd be working on.. it doesnt matter how many 3d things he'd be making.. but what would i expect he work per hour.
is 60 too much? or not enough. you catch my drift. it doesnt have to be exact but more of a ball park number.
It cant be something unreasonable though. if works at a semi discounted price he will most likely get work form this client often as other projects that require 3d roll in.
i'm talking about my boyfriend.. i'm pitching his skills to someone and he doesnt know what to ask for. but, they most likely will want to use him.

depending on the artist
more or less
i would count on ....
somewhere in the 500 to 800 per day range. maybe more, maybe less.

thanks TF... he knocks stuff out super fast so I can see how that would be reasonable. The project isnt going to last too long.. they might need him off an on for 2 or 3 weeks. a couple days at a time to fill in the holes.

ya, Id say someone working to the standard of the frame store / mpc working on movies over here would be on around £700/day.

For me the situation is the following: I never rate per hour a 3D work (not advisable, at least here), I do per project, and of course, the price will depends of the project. Basically it has to be something you'll (and hopefully the client) feel confortable with...
