some form of screen printing perhaps? that's a good question though, i have some pieces that i've been wanting to do on sheet metal, stainless sheets and wood.

screen printing and it is not cheap. I do it at work all the time

oh, you can do offset as well

this is the kinda stuff that we have to do at work sometimes.
screenprinting is definitly one way. it is the most expensive and probably the best, but there are other options.
as raskoh mentioned, some metals can be etched.
you can also print on adhesive vinyl papers if you want a full color print or if it is just one or a couple of colors, then you can cut solid color vinyls and stick them to the cleaned surface. these are pretty durable and can look quite nice depending on the application.

they might have pad printed it...i know that pad printing you can do on pretty much anything. maybe that was silk screened? anyone actually see it up close?

mm... what is pad printing swollen?

i'm just doing it the old school way, i have an old silk screen kit i got from Dick Blick when i was in high school. cut the film, get out the chemicals, grab your ink then squeegees away. damn i need more space, $110 a month to rent a garage at my new apartment, hmmm......damn i need a better job.

how do you get a digital photo on to wood?

transfer the emulsion

You could have someone do it with a laser, too. A friend of mine is having things made from laser cut metals and woods (although different from just etching a logo, I am sure the place could to both). It's pretty cheap.

If I'm not mistaken, thermography is something you may want to look into for this, and it is durable as well.
