any suggestions on how to autorun two different director files (one for os9 and one for osX) from a cd depending on the version they have?

use the buddy API xtra to detect the operating sytem on startup and then launch the appropriate movei

i'll look into it.
cheers mate.

curtis,
for this to work i need to launch a projector then detect the os and load the appropriate movie...
maybe i am missing something but by then surely it is too late, and the osX has already gone classic?!
does that make sense?

just set it in toast so that the exe is bootable

thats the way we do it for all cd roms... works a treat

sorry mate - don't understand. . .

when you burn a cd.... using toast on the mac,
you create a mac/pc hybrid cd, create two partitions on the disk... on the pc partition put the pc exe with a autorun, and on the mac bit, click on the preferences and slect which file you want to make bootable...
toast has a tutorial to do it

yeah guys, always done the toast way as well. which does work a treat...
But with director MX you have to make two executables now. One for os9 and one for osX.
I have made these projectors fine, but I am wondering which one to set to autoplay, because surely if the os9 version autoplays on osX then it launches classic mode...
hmmm maybe I am worrying unnecessarily, just wondered if anyone had done a lot of os9/osX native cd's and had some advice.
Cheers for the help guys.

I use this for detecting OS on startup. Just check the list for a string containing "osX"
getaProp(the environment, #osVersion)

cheers seph,
looks useful, although i think what i need to do is detect which platform version BEFORE i launch the corresponding director projector?!
hmm, maybe i shall give up on the autorun for now.
thanks guys.
