the old question.............
small town company -> 200-500 (minimum time of working)
big company -> 4000 ..... (i have heard bills til.....

Your hourly rate.

is that $4000??
shit, I need to move to a 1st world country....
=P.
Ok, charge per hour, to a small company, take less time working on it, and dedicate more time to the big one.
Well, pretty much what jg said....

i actually base my rates on other things as well, such as:
> what market they are in
> what the annual earnings are a year (usually easy to find out)
> get a good idea of budget
> what else they might need, for example stationary, website, etc...you always want to upsell your services, this way you can charge more, but it looks like you are doing more as well. Offer deals and such, so if you say 500 for a logo, or 1200 for a logo and stationary....in all reality the logo is the mian project, the stationary should flow pretty easily for you...
i have had clients put up to $8,000 (technology company) for a logo and stationary...
I would suggest not having a set price...this way you can market yourself into more projects more easily...also doesnt sound like you wont budge on pricing...

I heard that the guy who did the Lucent Technologies logo got paid lots and lots and LOTS of money.

dont you factor in usage? what happens if you design a logo for some wackos called Lucent for $250 and then all of a sudden they're the hottest thing out there with companies all over the world? huh?

Well, i suppose some companies you just know they're going to stay small-time. Like a local A/C company. Or your neighborhood sex toy shop.
Thanks for the advice!
