whats the market like at the moment? I have been freelancing for a year now and it feels like things are picking up a fair bit...I have a lot of possibles in the air at the moment and a couple of jobs.
But just been offered a permie job for good money and benefits and I am thinking maybe take it (pay off debts!) until things pick up again?
It's not a great job but will be stress free, secure and nice people but probably not very creative...
The question is this...have we rode out the rough times and things are finally getting better or is it just the summer and it's all really really dark still?
Any thoughts?cheers people

i was freelance for many months until end of feb when I got offered a perm job at the place I was freelancing - purely for financials I took it - and I fucking miss the freelance so much - especialyl with this weather...only 4 weeks holiday a year...but teh money is good and the peolpe here are great...rough with the smooth mate...I would take the perm job and then see what happens....

I think thats' what I am going to do, cheers nick!
Will be great to be getting regular money in...can then start buying some bits and pieces for our new place in west hampstead!
Even though the freelancing was good and the money great you never really know what is coming up...I just want to relax a bit and start planning for the future?
And shit do I owe so much money!
Will be great to pay that all off...
and buy an iPod....
and some books...
and a new stereo...
and a new chair...and..

Seems to be picking up for me at the moment, several steady clients, one new client yesterday and a couple more leads to follow up.
Not sure if that's a general industry trend or just me knowing more people now though. Last summer was shit, no work for 3 months.

yeah that's what I can't suss...if it's just me at the moment or are things looking good?
either way I am not sure a life of freelance is the best way when you owe upwards of 10k to the cc's!I am instead, considering the gee gees...I hear you can make a load of money on the horses.
Gambling is a sure fire way to make a fortune, right!?!Jevad, yeah we just moved into West Hampstead. It's fantastic, after 29 years living in East London I suddenly feel all proper!
We are just over the way from the Czech social club...what a pub!
La Baroca (spelling) seemed pretty good too?
it's a great place to be in Summer!

i am freelancing too. can i just ask with the people taking on a perm job...is it better money than freelancing/better work, or is it for security/stress free?

i'm quite busy, still looking for the perm/career based job i want.
things look good, had an interview today and they've asked me back to meet the director and team next week.full time job and a shed load of understanding freelance clients. now that would be sweet.

*strokes chin and nods smuggly to himself*
if there is no work then I can call it a day.
Saying that it sounds a lot like famous last words...
