Dude Safari blows, use IE or Opera.
IE Has been discontinued from the Mac because Safari is trying to compete. Safari is doomed. In other news IE just worked deal with AOL to squash the browser incapabilities of Netscapes AOL flavor. IE looks like it will live on.
Really though Safari suxasss.

I have never used Safari myself because I am unlucky and don't own a mac but if you code to web standards and validate your CSS, apart from a few know bugs in safari's css you wont go wrong.
Safari uses the same rendering engine as Konquerer on the linux so if you have that then fire it up and test in that and what works should work in safari.

i like safari but i must admit that there are a few too many times i have to open up ie for something to work...

yes, do what paulsmith said. code with valid CSS and you'll be all set.
using 'old tricks' to make your web page look good is so 2001...

in my experience Safari is VERY flexible with CSS, and for that matter far more superior to IE on Mac..
as for forms: hehe, too bad, that is just one exception... :#.

I have been Safari ever since it came out. I have not experienced problems backing. I have had to fall back on IE for an office web mail site. But the java it is using should be update.
That is what you will find problems, older codes sites and tacky tricks that only worked on IE in the first place.

thanks everyone. I guess i have to learn how to read all those damn specs at WC3. And i am not a code person so i got to do what i have to even if it is so 2001. Actually, i am not sure standards are so good. Why have even more barriers to publishing. that is why i like hte web now, it is still ghetto as fuck, still rough and raw. If everyone had to code EXACTLY to web standards the only stuff online would the big companies and pages published by super nerds that read web standards all day. fuck it, keep it ghetto. Keep it rugged. Good god wht if there were fanzine standards?

the only reason why i suggested using valid css was because you mentioned that some 'tricks' that worked in IE didn't work in Safari.
it's not a rule and it has nothing to with corporations or money (http://alistapart.comhttp://movableparts.comhttp://zeldman.com <- all independent standard advocates)
keep it ghetto, if you like, but don't complain if your ghetto design doesn't work in X browser.

I think Safari's still Beta
I've tested one site on it (which has a lot of CSS) and from my experience, it's better than IE for the Mac.
Now Opera for the Mac has problems, it seems. Do any Mac users use Opera?
- bruno0
no, i have used Opera in a while. Opening it now if i still have it.
I aint complaining bout stuff looking rough on Safari on OSx. jeezz what is up with everyone on this board. pisssy ass attitudes.

IE hasnt been dis-continued for the mac strickly because of Safari.. it has also been dis-continued for the PC as well and now will be embedded in the OS only- starting with "Longhorn" Microsofts wanna be OS X update in 2005 or 06 which means that IE will not be updated for 2 to 3 years. And you will have to buy a new Operating System to do so.
How many years did it take for IE to start following standards instead of making them up. Safari is in BETA and less than a year old and follows a hefty amount. Its roots are from an Open source community so developement will grow and grow- the code is not under strick lock and key.
Does Safari crash sometimes...sure... but way less than IE does on a mac or windows in my opinion. I had two bad pages since Safari was released- and a zillion in IE for the mac. Hell I cant even leave THIS site on IE without the browser crashing.Rumors of Safari and Camino for Windows offered for free where anyone can develop for it...
