Did anyone had problems viewing embeded realplayer movies (streamming!) in Safari?
My projects (which works fine on any other browser [cross-platform]) seems to be working fine.
thanks ahead...

I've got Safari and I think it Sucks!!.
I never use it so don't worry about it, i'm sure nobody else does either.

ie blows.. like especially when your developing in it. ie is great when it crashes on the reload, and then sometimes you gotta move your mouse to show the text cause mothing shows up in the browser. oh, and i like how it renders html slower than safari

I use safari and haven't had any problems with nested real files. What's the url of the one your trying?

I use safari too, I had no problems and I think it works great!!
I always hated explorer, so before safari I was using netscape.
Yes it is faster, yes it looks pretier, yes its made for apple, by apple!!peace

for the interested ones...
I'm having problems with this page here..!
http://www.theheart.org/acc2003/…
:info on the supplied link:
This is a cardiology portal onwed by the company I work for. The president "switched" to mac not so long ago and wishes very hard that all porducts are "totally" Mac/Pc compatible (as much as we can...) He's on 10.2, using the latest version of Safari and yes in the installed plug-ins page (under HELP in Safari) says the RealPlayer plug-ins is installed.I have no clue wass going on, althought, when he clicks on "direct" link to .RM files.. they download ok and play well with the RealOne player, but all embeded movies show a blue LEGO block with questions marks on it...
wow this is too darn long.. sorry if I went too much in the details here..!
In the end:
Maybe it's a simple integration issue, not well impletmented movies might act strangely...If you do use Safari and been on pages that contains embeded Real movies in'em... please post URL's here...
thanks for reading...

I got a lego block with question marks on it. I guess that mean I have to download Real for Safari, but the dumb lego block doesn't even link to anything.

real player is not a embed plug in (the dumbest thing about Safari anyway) because Real are now charging money for their OS X player. If you want to view that or any other real page you have to go PAY or use the 14 day demo of the player. Freakin rip off.

i am very happy with Safari, only once a week I need IE for some sites with tricky js... other then that:
-Safari has fastest Flash performance on Mac.
-Safari has superior html-renderspeeds.
-Safari is somewhat user-friendly, imho (especially the google search feature..)
-Safari displays most of the streams, but has problems sometimes with WinMedia streams.
-And I love tabbed browsing!and much more!
Safari is here to stay!

4cy, here's 2 questions.
Do you know where there are any stats on flash speeds on differenct browsers?
What doesn imho stand for?
Safari screws up the window positioning script I have to center a pop up window on my site. Not very complex javascript either:

Real charging for the plug-in??? I find that hard to believe. That would be suicide. WHO would pay? There isn't a damn thing that's better about Real than Quicktime or Windows Media.
- unknown0
oops...
check it out
- ctrlRmB0
Safari is still in beta... sems pretty amazing so far...
Good luck with your embedded videos... I've always tried to steer away from realplayer myself.
- 4cY0
cybrainX,
no, i don't know of stats anywhere, altho they might be around.
I just tried playing the 2advanced site on both IE and Safari, and since the second betarelease Safari simply made IE eat dust when it comes to flash(speed) performance.imho = in my humble opinion.
;)

despite all the (for the most part justified) bad feelings on Real, i have to say that for streaming video RealPlayer is more flexible and faster (faster response for skipping/cueing etc.) on my Mac.
Anytime I can choose between Real and WinMedia I choose Real on that particular site.
Except when theres a Quicktime option, ofcourse!! :)
- 4cY0
oops.. :
"is more flexible and faster (faster response for skipping/cueing etc.)
..then windows media player..
on my Mac"
- ctrlRmB0
I agree... Real is responsive on the mac...
There is an ongoing Real vs WMP vs QT debate at my office. I'm pulling for quicktime.
- 4cY0
yeah, me too.
altho many streams just failed on QT in the past..
they seemed to have fixed it(for the most part) in the latest update which I still need to install.

1st ::
RealPlayer is Free, you must look carefully... front page, top right, then look for more..! it's there..! I know they do it on purpose to fool those with money who think you have to pay for all...2nd::
Real better video quality than WinMedia CODEC8, winmedia encoder 9 is getting quiet good...3rd::
We try to keep everyone happy when publishing streams, we only support Win or Real... The folks here disregard the QT streamming cause the cost of serving QT is a little expensive with tons of liscencing crap...in conclusion...? Anyone seen a Real (embed) movie in Safari? Cause this is what the thread is about... I need to know whether it works or we have to wait for the final "Gold" vesrion to be out..?
if you've been visiting pages containning enbed, please post URL...
Or if you have Sarafi (latest Beta) on 10.2.6... try looking at clips on iFilm.. mine plays in the realPlayer window, not in the HTML page of the site..!
hope to hear positive vibes on this... if not we're going to end up complainning at Apple!!
