Going on a honeymoon in October. What we want is an ultra-chill, authentic, non-cheezy beach experience. Not the typical honeymoon package. Something remote but with neat stuff to do. We're thinking Bermuda, Mexico, Carribean but don't know anyplace specific. Any ideas? Links? Experiences?

I went to Greece and it was amazing. We went to Halkadiki on the mainland to a quiet little village, beautiful sandy beach, cool bars and chilled atmosphere. We did a boat trip across to the other side of the bay to an abandoned beach which was brill and we also stopped off at a tiny island nicknamed Turtle island and swam in the crystal blue waters! I recommend Greece - don't go to the islands (if you want somewhere quiet) they are really busy, if you want something chilled go to the mainland.

Fiji is untouched chilled out bliss. And if you smoke the herb you can buy a branch for a few squids.
and i mean squids as in the fishy variety. Fijians love to barter

I'd say Mallorca, if you are going in the summer. It's pretty special. Rent a SLK (I had a Fiat Barchetta conv - nice little car) and drive up the coast, watch the sunset from some of the cool cantilevered restaurants.

Capri is pretty special, but not quite as accessible.
Anything on the Mediterranean will most likely be fantastic and 'different' than the typical beach package (also probably cost a sh*t load more, too!)
Congrats. Enjoy.

I'm going to lombok with the gf in a few weeks. Meant to be nice and chilled but still with shit to do. It's like bali was a few years ago.
I'm probably going to stay here: http://www.quncivillas.com/

hey there! I'm actually the other half of this search for a non-typical, ultrachill, beach-style honeymoon... (Drury's soon to be wife) & in my most recent search I saw Ibiza again- which is someplace I have always wanted to go, but now, at 34 and a bit more mellow- feel maybe I'm a bit beyond the whole "Wild On" scene... Any feedback on this spot??

ibiza ???? for a mellow chill honey moon ??
wow, you must be living real far from europe to think that
i love ibiza, 've been a bit all over the place several times.. it's pure adrenaline , sex and snooze 24 hours a day
unless you go on a rainy day in the winter somewhere in the country side..
it could be a great idea for a honeymoon, but not if you intend to have some peace ..i would recomend the hottest, the sexiest, the honeymoonest place on the world, my babe, my only one, my Zanzibar : that island, the food, the people, the culture, it's gonna blow your mind and you are never gonna come back the same : you'll be walking bare feet and smiling all day..
zanzibar, with his small capital (750 k hab) and his gorgeaous coast is probably the sexiest honeymoon ever.

i've been to Mauritius, St Martin, Gaudeloupe, Fidgi, Phillipines, Bali, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil : but nothing is like Zanzibar..
now get your cash out : it's bloody expensive if you want some first class accomodation

thanks Zef! We live in Baltimore, yes- a bit far from Europe, but not too far- I've heard Ibiza is nuts- but thought it would be an interesting mix of beach life, night life, eurotrash, cool things to look at... but perhaps when I was 22.
I'll check out Zanzibar!

i'll say Ibiza would be a good mix for a two or 3 days stop to womewhere else.. not a final destination.
Mauritius is great , the north west coast is gorgeous.
but this african / creole / masaï mix, this fresh exotic breeze coming from zanzibar is exeptional : music, food, people, colors : everything there is alive ..
