I'm trying to identify the first movie to employ the "slow clap" cliche in which as the movie concludes the main character is publicly applauded, starting with a single person clapping, then gradually picking up speed as everyone joins in. It usually happens when the guy and the girl finally get together, the main character triumphs over disability, etc. The first one I know of is "Lucas" starring Corey Haim, in 1986.

I'm sure it's been done b4 that...but the movie 'Not another teen movie' has a running joke with it I think.
