what can i use to convert it to a wav or aiff?

hmm... honestly ive never come across a m4a file.
maybe SoundForge.i'd offer to try a couple of my apps to convert, but i am at work and have no access to my audio shizzle.

thanks bio. its some mpeg4 compression and it isn't reconized by any current audio software i have. damn it.

yea. ive heard it is gonna be the "next big thing" in audio, but i also heard that about .ogg files. (Ogg Vorbis, which ARE better than mp3s)

it's a AAC file, kind of like what you get from the iTunes Music Store (accept the "a" denoted that it's not copy protected)
if you do a search, you should be able to find a converion untility
