If I want to recommend the simplest/best FTP client for people to upload stuff to our server... what is best for Windows?
Is there anything on windows approaching the user-friendliness of Transmit for Mac?
http://www.panic.com/transmit/Also, is Windows IE 5 and 6 the only browser versions that allow you to drag files and folders straight into an FTP site listing to upload?
(Mac IE doesnt do it)

But is it cute?
I am amazed... there is not a single screenshot on their whole site... lots of rave reviews, but no pictures...
Guess I'll have to download it to see. How stupid is that?

Ugh, who cares, use cmd prompt for all it matters, its just file transfer. I would reccomend SmartFTP or WSFTP possibly, maybe bullet proof ftp, but either way it all sends the files to the same places the very same way. Its not like the difference between painter and photoshop.

Ugh, We care! This is not just a technical issue, it's a total workflow issue.
This is for customers who barely know how to switch on the computer...we want the easiest, most elegant solution so they can send us photos and enjoy doing it.
So the best GUI so far on Windows seems to be CuteFTP?

wsftp is a very simple program. you can setup the ftp info for them, all they do is click connect and then drag and drop works with it. simple.

If the files has the same name or at least all of them are going to the same place and directory and such you can write a batch file to do it for them using the command prompt FTP client so they don't have to do anything but click an icon and then go about their business. Depends on what you're actually doing though.

i used cute for a few years.. swore by it, and then dl'd smartFTP the other day and uninstalled cute after about 5 minutes.
So i guess my vote goes for smart over cute - well for ftping.

thx
We're just emailing the server login details to the customers (and a download link for the FTP client too)... so it's got to be nice n' easy
