anyone..?

pretty cool.
sorry man, wish i could tell ya. all i can say is that it is probably some scripting by a serious script monkey.
far beyond anything i could even consider doing.
i am sure there are some cats round here that can tell you if you keep bumping this baby.*wham*

I think they did it but if it was hi-res please forgive me mr. chef.

it was done by one of the fellas from BrothomStates...
but i need to know how...
and i don't...
yet...

that's fucking amazing ...
34 k and you could watch forever without seeing anything twice ...can't help you though

how about if everything was getting drawn at runtime??
The single shapes aren't too complex and are repeated relativley often in different scale, colour and rotations...
so you get yourself a little drawing function for say 10 or 15 different shapes....
then define rules for how they attach to each other.... if everything is in code then you can have heaps and heaps of it before your swf will ever reach 34k.....
don't know if that's how it was done, but it's conceivable...

teehee, you ppl are easily impressed.

MX_OnD...
what does that all mean..?
in simple terms..?
- MX_OnD0
thosethat,
Flash MX actionscript can "draw" from code. So instead of you drawing the shapes and them occupying space in the library you define how they are to be drawn in code and they only get drawn when they are required.....
I'll send you a little example sometime over the weekend if you like...
- mitsu0
put the various 'simple shapes' references into an array. access random elements at random intervals. create a set of functions which each manipulate a shape uniqely. call these functions randomly to expand/contract/rotate your shapes.

cheers MX_OnD...
that'd be grand...
mitsu... i don't understand a word of what you said...
- enobrev0
mitsu's probably right on..
you might want to read up on your actionscript a bit before trying this.

any reading recommendations..?
for a beginner..?
- enobrev0
Dan Livingston's books did quite a bit for me, personally.
And regardless of experience, You can't go wring with colin Moock. (or o'reilly for that matter).
And um.. the macromedis site
http://www.macromedia.comand these guys ain't bad

The best book for novices is Actionscripting in Flash MX by Phillip Kerman.....
Moock's book is the definitive guide but very "dry" for beginners....
my tuppence worth..
