It is the sworn enemy of any self respecting designer. Here is how we can oppose this demon.
Tell people Flash can import dynamic text, so the salesmen can update it without touching the Flash source.
Put keystrokes on your mouse events to let the user hit the space key or enter key to advance to the next screen.
Allow Full Scale for the presentation mode.
Use Flash. Don't let them subvert your work and your purpose for being paid.

or let them use powerpoint so you don't have to touch their shitty presentation.
IMO, powerpoint serves a purpose, and serves it well...
most office people know how to throw together a powerpoint presentation, and most office people are suitably impressed in a meeting by an array of different page transistions.
Having a developed product like powerpoint saves time too... i think it would probably take quite a while to put together an editable, scalable, easy to use powerpoint alternative in flash(and this would just be basic PP functionality, no animation or anything)... and even then, trying to mimick some of the page transistions such as the blocky looking disolve would be hell. (and don't think they won't be asking for it! "well in powerpoint there was this blocky looking sort of transistion effect.... I want that"
I think it's best to let sleeping dogs lay on this one... powerpoint isn't going anywhere.
