Cheap is a little tricky in L.A., but it can be done. Go to clubs early, etc.

On the Cheap? My version of Cheap is this: Bottle of Thunderbird, chillin' under a bridge with bums. That's cheap!

The standard hotel on sunset blvd. is a resonable place to get food and cocktails and sit by the pool and people watch. also well designed

Bumming at the beach is free. Getty Museum has free admission but parking is something like 5 bucks -- getty.edu. The Science Museum near downtown is free as well. MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) and Geffen Museum are free Thurs. night -- moca.org. Don't bother going to the free Griffith Observatory since it's closed for renovation.

food: Farmers Market. Fairfax/3rd...hike to the back of the hollywood sign...buy a record at Ameoba, Sunset/Cahuanga...run on the strand in Hermosa...surf@county Line...then have a Margareta, ANYWHERE!!!

In what part of LA will you be staying?
AND will you have access to a car? (I'm trying to think of all factors, here!) :^)

get on the 5 Freeway and drive to Puerto Nuevo, Mexico. Sit down...order a beer and some lobster. Eat and drink like a king...watch the sunset.
