What's the best way? I've tried Fontographer, but it's didn't work on the fonts I gave to a coworker on a PC.
Any other alternatives?

there are a lot of freeware utilities for mac>pc font conversion. google it or check places like download.com. btw, i've never had any problem converting fonts for pc using fontographer.

can you also convert them from PC to Mac?

yes. i use fontographer for converting that direction as well.
