i need to understand pantone colors. perhaps i need some pantone guides. anybody have any recommendations on what to get (books or chips) that won't break the bank? muchas gracias!

them chip books i say are the best resource if you really want the real thing. $$ though, sorry.

yeah if you work for a company make them buy the latest chip books or the pantone season styleguides. the best!, but they will set you back a few grand.

Why? I don't understand why they are so expensive. Color is free.

i've found the chip books et on ebay and such for around $400, they're $$ cause Pantone is the standard and you're paying for their monopoly, plus they really are very nice things to have, they're well worth the money.

I like the books with chips you can pull out. I like to pull out what colors I want to use and see how they work together etc...
Besides that I like the tint book. It shows how each pantone color looks at different percentages. It has been a big help to me.
