I just singed up for a class at the Art Center at Night. The title is "New Business for New Designers" and the cost is $650 hard earned bucks. I hope it's worth it.....

what Art Center?

It could be a good networking situation.
Do you know who's teaching?
I took a business for new media class (not that name but something like that) at Santa Monica College before the dot bomb. Didn't learn much but the teacher was hilarious -- something of a comedienne.

Nope.

That's promising. I guess the networking part of it is the biggest selling point.

what does the class outline advertise? is it really a business class for design professionals? that could be muy useful

It's all about developing an identity, proposal formats, ads and pitches and "Clientology"

yeah, could be a useful course— many design programs barely scratch the surface of the business side of design— I've mostly had to learn by doing

You aint lyin'. Cr8tiviT doesn't fit into a box nor does it sell itself. I've been doin this for long enough to know but now is the time for new ideas/methods.

I graduated from accd in 95.
The night classes are not much different than the day classes except that there's a different and probably more diverse teaching pool.
i guess the question is what do you expect to learn for $650?
Most of the info can be found in boards like Newstoday and in some really basic business books.
However, some people learn better in a classroom or with the motivation of a schedule.
are there going to be guest speakers?
good luck.
