SMALL TRUTH BUDGET

Anyone else find it very convenient for the UK government to announce their latest flaky budget on the same day that the war became "over".
For as long as I can remember, Budget Day has been headline news, but on the news last night, it got a measly 5 minutes at the end of the programme.
Were we subject to over-enthusiastic reportage to help disguise the significance of yet another Saddam defacement?
I feel for those families who all of a sudden have the false impression that their loved ones are halfway home already...

ooops...one more thing.
Every time "TAX UP ON CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL".Who smokes and drinks these ? The real people.
I longingly await the day when it says"TAX UP ON CHAMPAGNE AND CIGARS"
Who smokes and drinks these ? The rich people.
Nuff said.

i think it was just a coincidence.
find the budget pretty boring usually, just listen for the key information like increase on beer and fags (thats cigarettes to the other half of the 'coalition')

NO ! That aint what i said.
To recap :
The emphasis of events in Iraq were given huge priority over the budget news.
The only dude who felt any worthwhile significance in seeing Saddam's two-bob statue flop onto the pavement was the local scrap metal dealer.
Most of us see it as another cloud in a storm.
