i'm annoyed, i am making this more difficult than it has to be:
i have a movie clip(looks like a torn piece of paper.
on (rollOver) it "slides" out where i would like it to reveal some nav links(buttons) and on (rollOut) it "slides" back in...if i embed the "button" in the clip that i want to "slide", the button doesn't work...if i put the button on top of the "sliding clip" then it acts like i am rolling of the "sliding" clip so the sliding clip closes and i can click the button...
sorry for rambling...
why can i not figure this out?here is a link, but let me tell you what is going on(since i've tried multiple things)
right now, on (rollOver) it slides out and stops on a frame where i have a loadMovie() action which loads the "enter" button on level 2...let me stop.

any help would be
FANTASTIC!

oh, the enter button takes you to my site, which is in no way complete, just ideas...

not exactly sure what's going on, but maybe you could just place an invisible button (just a keyframe on the "hit" state) outside the movie clip....

I think I see what you mean.. you're saying that if you put your nav buttons on top of the button that triggers the slide, then the rollOut gets triggered on the slide when you go over the nav buttons... right?
So how about checking the position of the mouse on the rollOut.... so instead of just triggering the slide back in you say on(rollOut){
if(_root._xmouse > 150 && (_root._ymouse 350)){
//then slide back in...
}
}may have got the syntax wrong, and I just guess on values, but you see what I mean?

wish i could help more home snack, but i int all that great with scripting.
i am only a tween monkey.
all i know is you might could do it by using it all on your main timeline and when the paper comes out, then you can have your button on another layer that activates when it hits that particular frame.
but i know that there is a better way to do it, so i wouldnt even listen to my ignorant ass remarks.
as a matter of fact, just disregard this post.
even better, dont even read this post. youll just be wasting your time. =)
sorry.

I really never liked using onClipEvent(rollover, rollout) {}. I find that it's far too easy to break.
Here's how I'd approach this:
1. in your movieclip, add a stop action on the first frame.
2. Also on the first frame put the graphic symbol and a blank button to cover the hit area.
3. On the blank button, put the following script:
on(rollOver, dragOver) {
play();
}This button should ONLY exist on frame 1.
4. Tween the graphic from the first frame out to frame n.
5. On frame n, place a stop action. You should probably add your "enter" button here too.
6. Also on frame n, place four blank buttons AROUND the graphic. Place the following action on the buttons:
on(rollOver, dragOver) {
gotoAndStop(1);
}Works lickitysplit.
