hey cheers for the help- tho tried targeting the empty mc though once itd loaded, flash thinks its loaded, regardless of what jpgs i start loadMovie'ing into it.

you can also create a new clip with createEmptyMovie() and then load into that - works fine : )

use a normal preloader but set it to target the clip it's loading into, not the jpeg.

aye am about to give up- using nt as a last resort. is this possible? (preloaders for loadMovie jpgs)

I tried doing that.I gave up though. Keep us posted if you find out how I would really like to know my self!

yeah, jpegs will be easier for client to update. i think it was jumping from 0 to the total b/c i was testing it locally. it seems like when it's on the server it loads byte by byte.
let me know though if i'm missing something.

you really want them to load jpegs?
it could be possible with swf's you load in..
might look that up somewhere later..
you tried all the flash-resources/forums etc. out there?

my WOW! tactic doesn't seem to be working :(

that's right! another flash question.
i'm loading some jpegs using the loadMovie command into a target movieclip. looks something like:
loadMovie("image.jpg", targetMC);
so, is there anyway to figure out when the entire jpeg is loaded? i've tried tracing the getBytesLoaded();
and it goes straight from 0 to the total amount, as though there isn't any load time. but there is always a delay before it pops up. I know how to make a preloader, i was just wondering if anybody knows of some sort of command or quick way to detect when the whole image is loaded. all suggestions welcome!
thanks,
