come on people stop looking only at teh merit of the work -- start thinking about the context. That shit was done in times when an average Joe couldn't sit down and "create" a poster on their home computer, meaning their craft has much higher value than in our times. Moreover think of free market economy. Take Polish poster design of 70s and 80s -- they are great, but we have to think of the fact that they were paid by the state, everyone was poor and so were the designers... and very often thsoe designers were unemploed artists not designers -- the main function of tehd esign wasn't to bring more money but to inform.
