maybe...
i downloaded some ai files (harsh patel vs kolber) and the majority of them seemed to be uneditable...
but they weren't PDFs...
they were .ai files...
you couldn't select anything, let alone change it...
i need to do this...
but i have no idea how...

Select the unopened document, press command i, for info. There's an option there to lock your work. It can be undone, of course, but most people don't know how to.

thanks...
the thing is i'm having a show, and i want to be able to provide the artwork on disk to anyone who buy a piece (!)... but i don't want them to be able to edit it at all...

Wait. Why again do you want to give away your files?
