hosting a kids show has got to be the coolest job ever.
- dsmith70
i used to host a saturday morning kids show in my hometown of binhamton, ny. I also did a couple of local commercials, one for a pizzaria and one for the space observatory in central ny.

Because I had run out of quarters and dimes at the register and I asked him if he could just hold on a second while I got the manager to give me some change, or if he prefered, I could just give him a ton of nickles.
He rolled his eyes and said "This place is shit. Fuck off and tell your manager to fuck off."
He still showed up every night after that though...
He's actually much shorter than you would imagine. He's maybe around 5'7" or so. And he looks waay older in person too.

My Grandma is in the movie "Forces of Nature" with Ben Affleck & Sandra Bullock. She plays one of the "sun seekers", a group of old folks touring around. In the tango bar scene she kinda nudges Affleck and says, "I don't know how you can resist" - though it's kinda hard to hear. Weird seeing Granny on the big screen. She was one of the original Rockettes, so she's always been in show biz.

"Jean Claude Van Damn was a regular asshole there. He told me to fuck off once."

If anyone has seen the british film Human Traffic, filmed in my home town Cardiff, I am the DJ at the house party in which they talk about star wars. Ironically I played US house all night
The fame is gettin to me.

I grew up in Hong Kong - as such I was an extra for a whole bunch of movies - mostly taiwan or chinese cop films
BUT
I had a small role in Jacky Chan's CITY HUNTER. If you have ever seen teh movie - in the bit where he goes to the park and there are all teh skaters riding around in a scirlce on teh different ledges with hocky sticks - and then there is a chase - well I'm the one with the bleached blond hair and the backwards cap that says 'let's get him'. I also do a 360 over a car and you see me bite it...that was fun as hell - they flew over all these pro skaters from the states for the 3 days filming - fed us good - and I taught jacky chane how to kickflip... good times

I've had my brushes with fame more than once. I starred in a film for a friend that was in film school. It was a 10 minute film and I played a drug dealer and then a gay guy (i'm neither).
I got to see it in a film festival in a real theatre and that was kinda surreal.
Also when freelancing times were very lean, I worked at a coffee shop in venice/santa monica (The Coffee Bean on Main street) and there were movie stars going in there like every day. Jean Claude Van Damn was a regular asshole there. He told me to fuck off once. Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz were also regulars. Also Tim Meadows from Saturday Night Live. The singer from Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Nicolas Cage actually knew me by my first name. He liked chai tea lattes. I know all their favorite drinks. There were a lot of lesser known people too. But the highlight was the time when Johnny Rotten asked me where the bathroom was. I was truly star struck then...And even with all those people going there, I never got discovered...

The movie Tommy Boy took place in Sandusky, OH where I am from.. Although none of the actual filming was done here, it's where it took place in theory.

I was in a REAL Skateboards video a few years back. Didn't have a full video part though - just a one trick wonder..

hm, I don't think you're in any danger of that.
There are many others much more deserving of getting smacked around. You're at the back of the line somewhere.
I'm closer to the front for using "heh" twice...
couldn't help it...
sorry...

I was the second stand-in for an extra for a commercial that was filmed to be broadcasted on a very local tv station that never saw the light of day, the station lacked viewers, except for a demented old lady a couple of blocks away who seemd to have passed away with the telly still on that particular channel as she tried to zap on__ noone ever knew the possible cause of her death.
Anyway, I am very proud and always tell this story to most of my friends when playing hide and seek in the hay stack when the cows are out___ but they are usually enjoying the saltblocks over listening to my story of my missed chance of 1.5 secs of fame__
oh well....

@o0o which part to i reply to?
i had to tie something completely unrelated to design with something that is kinda related, office life.
this way no one will smack me around.

I was a juggler in a commercial for Hershey Park. I was in ther for about 3 or 4 seconds, only saw the ad on tv once...
But I also live in the town where Laci Peterson and Gary Condit live... so I suppose I could hang around their houses and get on tv more.. heh
