allright, since it seems everyone is talking about flash, i got my own problem. HELP!!! I AM STUMPED
i have my main movie. each button that is pressed loads up a new swf into a target named 'right'
i am trying to incorporate a preloader intoeach of these newly loaded swf's. however it doesn't work, and merely sits in the preload stage not moving.
i am using the common preload script:
onClipEvent (load) {
total = int(_root.getBytesTotal());
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loaded = int(_root.getBytesLoaded());
percent = int(loaded/total*100);
_root:percent = percent + "";
_root.loadbar.gotoAndStop( (_currentframe - _currentframe)+percent );
if (percent >= 100) {
_root.play ();
}
}
}now, i no why this doesn't work, because the script is calling the _root, but is there a way to call the _root.mytargetswf so that it preloads properly. i thought it would be easy, but for some stupid reason i am stumped. Is it because i am using a target instead of a _level? is there a way around it?

when you loaded your movie you gave it a name, right? So it should be something like _root.right.myloadedmovie ...

yeah, they all got instance names

this is exactly what I was saying before to someone or maybe you, you need to name the _root.right.something

couldn't you just put your pre-loader script at the begining of your other .swf? that should solve the problem no matter what level you have them loading into
