illustrator issue!

I was wondering if anyone has ever run into this slight nuance when using illustrator..
my client asks for RGB everything.. so I worked in RGB with his RGB pallette.. he had a colour with hex value of 666699..
so I use this colour save my AI file and close it.
then I open it again and the colour has changed to a lighter shade...?
I'd accept that if I was opening and rasterising the AI image in Photoshop..but this is ridiculous.. AI changes the colour during a save. is this something that just happens or is it just me doing something wierd..

is the document mode rgb?
and if so;
are you using the same color profile for both photoshop and illustrator?

yes the document mode is RGB.. Im actually talking about saving and opening the file again in AI.. after changing a colour to 666699..
the colour just changes to a different shade..

ive never seen anything as wierd.. could it be a bug? id still like to think its related to some hidden profile setting or file option I dont know about.. anyone experienced something similar?

That doesn't sound right, let me try...

weird,
it stayed the same color for me..
I don't know what it could be doing...

I tried and the color remained.
Are you embeding a color profile?
don't.
Did you define the color as a swatch?
i would.
Did you use web safe in the color mode?
i would.

thanks guys..I seem to have fixed the issue now.. I used a swatch.. set the document mode to CMYK and then RGB again.. and it seems to have sorted itself out! could just be me and my computer.. or some wierd bug.. but its okay now.. apparently.. but it made me grab for the paintbucket PS a few hours ago.. cheers again
