Hey, we have put a script to capture user data on our home page. There is a cookie to make sur ewe are only grabbing data once from each user (per browser) and the results have been very surprising. For the past week we have had 12,697 users with flash and 138 without flash. 91.19% have some version of flash 6, 5.98 have 5, 1.31 = 4, .37 = 3, .07 = 2.
Of the flash 6 users 45.18% use version Win 6,0,47,0 and 28.16% use version WIN 6,0,65,0.
Don't know if this helps, but it certainly makes it easier for us to sell the idea of using advanced programming on our site.

At my work, I can't install any .exe. I have to ask the tech for that. The last Flahs plug-in I have on my computer is Flash 5, so each time there's a Flash MX site, it's hell.
I can't ask to the tech to put the plug-in, because you know, I'm not supposed to be in internet...
So, think about about all the little workers like me :)

Well you basically have a 1 in 4 odds that the user doesn't have flash mx.
So you got to ask yourself;
Is that a risk you or your company can take?
If they don't have it, what other precausions are we going to take to satisfy the client side user?
How much will a Flash MX site benefit over a Flash 5 site.

Its not just the issue of installing or updating the plugin, alot of people can't/won't upgrade and or maybe the plugin disagrees with there system.

Also those satistics are based on js enabled browsers, so it could be obviously be a lot less.

Yesterday's Macromedia Site of the Day, skyyblue.com, was done in MX.
I had the same problem with a corporate client, and ended up having to make the site Flash 5 compatible.
Totally sucked cause I had to go back to my Flash 5 books to program some of the action script.

As far as our stats go, we compare our log files to the stats we are gathering and the numbe rof people using a browser that we can not gather stats from is so small it's not even worth considering (javascript disabled, etc).
We have been logging this data for about two months now and the percentages stay in the 90% range. Also we are running some apps on our site that require flash 6 and have receive lo complaints about needing to upgrade (except from internal people, but they are still using netscape 4.7!)
We are by no means ready to convert our entire site to flash though.
