I know how to do a web site and use photoshop, but about print design, I don't know anything. Do you know good tutorial about it?

300dpi
CMYK

6mm bleed muthafukka.

butn the size of the document (px) has to be the size of the document I'll print?
- thosethat0
that's 3mm on each side...
- thosethat0
it's best to think of size as mm not px...
and yes...
the size you design should be the size you print...

tif and eps files are your friends.
stay AWAY from CorelDRAW!!!
it is evil.

and I guess I have to use Illustrator ONLY...
It's possible to do something correct with photoshop too?
- unknown0
yea dude. But remember, either, embed all font and images or create outlines of all fonts or supply fonts on disk/isdn etc.
Use InDesign not Quark (it's had its day)

If your gonna bleed, design it 1/8 inch larger then you need.

fonts...
include your fonts...
or turn them into outlines/shapes...

Stay away from printing from photoshop and if poss illustrator, drop all artwork images in a new document in indesign.

ah god, I really need to use illustrator?
I'm a photoshop - freak...
OK OK i'll use / learn Illustrator.
- thosethat0
it depends on what your working on...
i often send stuff to print that's purely done in photoshop...
flyers and the like...
that particular printer likes cmyk, 300dpi jpegs...
whyncha ask yours what they like..?

photoshop is OK, the new PS uses a lot of vector technology as you find in Illustrator. Just save the file as eps..
never turn your type into pixels! Makes for some ugly shit__
- Lychee0
so I can't rasterize the type, just include it with the image on the CD?
- thosethat0
flatten layers to a tiff...
- thosethat0
should've asked you first...
what are you wanting to print..?

I don't have any project for the moment - but I just wonder. I know that one day I would haver to learn it. Recently, I could have a job - making ads for a political party, and I refused it because I didn't have time. But when I will have time to have a contract, I would like to be able to say "yes!"
(and I'm now looking for a job, so...!!!)
