i've always wondered that myself... why a font would be so expencive. would anyone actually pay that much?

Yes some clients pay for that. Especially when it's used in their identity. It's actuall good to have an expensive font for your identity. It excludes most amatures of using the same one :P
Fonts can be expensive for so many reasons. Some fonts are several years of work, so it's not that bad.
Fortunately you can buy just the bold and regular for much less in most cases.

This one, I think, is basically DIN condensed with the ends rounded off. I'm eagerly awating FF DIN rounded, which won't cost anywhere near this amount.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. Din. I'm concerned that Din is going to get way burnt out. For now I love it. I love that font too, but for that kind of money, (profanity of sexual nature).
I have mixed feelings about purchasing custom rare fonts for identity for the very reason I just mentioned. Using a font to distinguish your identity is a big risk. You could be yesterday's news tomorrow.

I bought my first DIN around 10 years ago, and still like it. It's so basic and utilitarian that I don't get sick of it.
