(apologies in advance if this thread sucks)
button action on main movie loads .swf into _level3.
1st frame of_level 3 .swf has another swf loaded into symbol instance "object".
subsequent frame action in main movie:
with (_level3.objects) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
}output error message: "Error: A 'with' action failed because the specified object did not exist."
what am i doing wrong?

"_level3.objectS"
typo...you said a symbol instance 'object' yet the action is looking for 'objectS'
maybe?
- paulrand0
I wish...
it was a typo in the post only.
thanks, though

tough to debug stuff like this without looking at it, but what frame does this
with (_level3.objects) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
}appear in, or is it generated somehow?

In the object swf, frame 1, do a trace ("exists!"); to make sure it is loading in correctly.
Otherwise post the FLA files :)

here is another one.
How to preload a clip - that is exported via AS.
i.e like the attach sound function
but attach clip...so the problem is 3 k on the first frame on the stage - but the first frame is really 120k so its pretty hard to preload. get me?
i have a way around this but its a hack -

"what frame does this
with (_level3.objects) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
}appear in, or is it generated somehow?"
the "with" frame action occurs a couple of frames after the button which loads the .swf into _level3.
(Button loads movie, then moves ahead a few frames to "with" action.

are you sure the clip you are loading with the button action has finished loading in before the next action is called?
and wouldn't...
_level3.object.gotoAndPlay(2);
be more concise?
I'd reccomend some kind of loader for the clip you are loading. That way you can be sure it is loaded before you call any actions on it.
Hope this helps!
