I'm doing an assignment for school where we have to make a "demo reel" for ourselves. And I need some good music to use in it. I want to use like a techno type song, but I don't really listen to that kind of music, so if anyone has any suggestions of a fast paced techno kinda song let me know!

Timeless by Goldie, a fuckin classic.
- petzi0
that's one of my all-all-time favs!

I just put it on cos I havne't listened to it for years... Thanks TNDAP!
Just remembered I did my reel to that at school 6 years ago... And the track still sounds relevant.

are you trying to say that it's "timeless", vespa?
sorry.
- vespa0
Well kind of mixed up about it cos it definitely sounds mid 90s and a few years ago it didn't sound timeless at all but that sound seems to have come back...?
- vespa0
And also Aphex Twin are great to cut reels to. Abstract enough, fast enough, varied enough for good cuts.

It's better than 75% of the new garbage floating around, I'm more of a hip hop head and music that makes you journey into another genre is timeless. I've been listening to alot of the new stuff and I'm not moved. But that moves me...so does 4Hero if you haven't heard the track "Gotta get up" ft Jill Scott, find it now!

aarrrgl I love Jill Scott (seen her twice and she is even better live!) and 4 Hero. so you are into bristol sounds then?
- TNDAP0
Forgive my American ignorance, I have no idea what you mean by Bristol...I mean, I think you're talking about London, if so, I wouldn't say I am into that sound cause I just stumble onto new music I feel it's like finding love, it just happens, some times someone will suggest, you may hear it in someones car on the street, etc. But I do believe there is a lot of great stuff coming out of there...isn't that R&B singer Omar from there too. Love his stuff.

an old tune that does it for me every time is sea-line woman...sounds heaps newer than it is (1964ish)...has a bit of everything in it, and the voice of nina simone.......wow...makes you wanna close your eyes and melt into the speakers...
- TNDAP0
Who's it by MX_OnD?
- vespa0
Bristol is west country... Massive Attack and Roni Size are from there... and I'm fairly certain 4 Hero are too. But I might be wrong.

i did a Director 'audio sampler' by techno/electro sound master The Advent.
dubbed from vinyl to MD, then into Soundedit 16 (all that got at my Uni), to re-edit/cut'paste, into new track.
coz it was electro, you
get good 'future' feel and uptempo music..well, that's what i did....

Isn't it on that "Stop and Listen" Masters at Work compilation? I like that track too, but might be a bit slow for a reel.
That track for some reason reminds me of "Twice the First Time - Saul Williams" on the Ninja Tunes Xen (disc 3). I think it's the rhythm.

Try the UNKLE remix of Narco Tourists by Slam...loads of industrial breaks....

What happened to thirdcircle? Are you reading these posts?

TNDAP - the original is by Nina Simone around 1964 written by George Bass.... vespa reckons it was re-done by Masters at Work, think she's right....but the original has more POWER anyway ;)

try "race wars" by BT
