I need help with a good way to preload target clips in Flash 5.
What is the best way to do this?
I've been just putting a preloader in a scene in the movie that's being loaded in. But then it shows the preloader every time it's loaded.
Any Suggestions/Links?

you're loading SWF files into MCs right?
you want the loader to disapear when the movie cached?

yeah, using the same preloader for different clips

fer one, you can put this script in before the load script comes in to prevent the loader to appear on times after the movie has been loaded:
if (_framesloaded >= _totalframes) {
gotoAndPlay("begin");
}modify _framesloaded or _totalframes if it applies

thanks a lot. works great.
Is this a good way to do it or is there a better way to do it so each separate swf doesn't have to have it's own preloader?

i believe there's a way to duplicate the preloader actions so you don't have to add the script to every SWF file, i think it talks about it in Moock's Actionscript book, like you have the script in your base movie and anytime a SWF is loaded in, it calls the preloader script to run..
i've never done it, would be nice though.

cheap and easy way to do it is create a preloader swf that sits a level above the other swfs youre loading, thus pseudo-covering them... then, call on that swf every time you call on another movie... that way you have your preloader swag all in one nice and easy place for future reference.
