Aren't differences of opinion wonderful? It's like liking different flavours of ice cream. Do you like ice cream? I like ice cream.

yeah, props to microsoft. They didn't seem to have a shipping problem (like apple in 1995 over the 8500 power pc 604e processor) in 1995, so I've been an MS bitch ever since.
I do wish Bill would kick me down a mil or 2 tho. just for the hell of it.

i like MS..
made life easier....
my opinion....i say MS is screwed over cause they are making alot of money..
- Danski0
My honest opinion, I don't like their software because it doesn't work for the user except to peddle more microsoft services to you. As soon as i can afford a tower g4 to go with my powerbook, or as soon as adobe starts releasing software for unix, I'm outta here.

MS has one of the finest user testing and research ...
i think as advanced computer users, we hate it but if you were never touched a computer in your life, i think i would work fine..
- Danski0
Point taken, but do first-time users learn to use a computer? Or do they swiftly become completely immersed in microsoft-swaddled environments? Point being, they take the easy route (windows for idiots version4, please press f1 for explanation) and as a result become dependent on ms environments.

Freedom is to be able to use Non-Microsoft products.

Not to "go-there" in the MS/apple/linux thing, but I think it's easier to start off in one and stick with it than it is to switch.
Changing the headspace required to adapt to the engineers thinking behind the design of different OS's is time that could be spent chillin at NT.
also, I personally find it harder to get used to the diff hardware. e.g. keyboards and mouse button configs are harder to deal with than the change in OS itself. (sometimes)

i think thats why MS is so successful..i mean, MS is a cycle that one can not get out.
mind you apple is no better, they make the hardware, software and dont share their hardware specs so that you cant buy $300 PC like mine... remember the movie Pirates or Silicon Valley? Steve Job is evil as Bill (but Steve W is really good, saw a documentary on him and he is a TRUE programmer) also Bill gave Steve J to save Apple so they are all the same...
- MrDinky0
i mean Bill gave money to Steve J to save apple in the early and mid 90s...

Absolutely. "soft" addiction is the key to success in the technology business today. And of course apple uses the same techniques as microsoft - if they didn't, they'd die out in seconds.
MS has a slightly nastier cycle of course, with it's forced-upgrade schemes.
I'm holding out on win2k/I don't wanna go to XP/Shoot me in the face/And I still won't go/Until photoshop stops working.

well it goes for same with (recent days) with design software... Macromedia, Adobe, PS 5.0 and 5.5 ? man that was a rip...
i dont think MS forces it, but rather, other software makers who uses the MS plateform, i still use my 1999 w2k hehe.. cause its so far the most stable OS that MS has made...i am just waiting for Adobe to stop making software for w2k... and i will HAVE to switch to xp.. dreadful days....
everyone is out to make money. and we suffer for it.. i think in alot of cases, MS has done a good job spreading the computer awareness. even Bill said that internet was a fad... i know that i bought my first copy of Netscape BUT most ppl didnt cause they didnt think that browser or internet was such a big thing.. until MS started including with their OS.. if you get it free, ppl will use it... rather they did it to squeez out NS is debaitable (yes and no) but it made alot of ppl go online and got us jobs...
