I know this is probably stupid and it should have been done in director, but no time or money.....
I have a 50 meg flash video getting loaded into a MC, and it takes 20 seconds before it starts playing...is there a way to preload the movies before they get played, even if they are external MCs. Then once i hit the button the right movie plays for the coresponding button
This will be played from a laptop over a projector for a presentation.
Thanks for your help
Jamie

i doubt it very much so....
flash is not meant for loading huge movei files....
that's just my opinion....

you mean theres no way to preload a swf into a MC

you can preload a mc like you are preloading your main movie
var mcLoaded = MCCLIP.getBytesLoaded();
var mcTotal = MCCLIP.getBytesTotal();and build a preloader off that. there's a good description in moocks as book.

I figured that much, but what i want to do is preload all the movies, with-out them playing then choose when i want them to play so there is only one time in the beginning in the presentation that things get loaded in.

Could you load the movies and and just pause the video when you load so it doesn't play, and make the MC you loaded them into not visible?

oh ok, so when you build the preloader just don't start until you load all the movies.
if (mc1Percent + mc2Percent + mc3Percent + etc.... == mc1Total + mc2Total + mc3Total + etc...) {
trace("LOADED");
}that way it doesn't do anything until all your movies loaded bytes == all of your movies total bytes added together.
is that what you mean?
